I tried to update to the newest pack (32bit) but I had an audio problem (Skype sound made white noise which affected all sounds till a reset) so I reinstalled. I have already had to delete my Thunderbird cache folder as I couldn't see my email accounts in the GUI.
I noticed with the update pack installed that the ask Manager GUI in the panel had multiple colours. Now I've reinstalled, without formatting /home I am seeing high cpu usage in the GUI but when I click on it, I cannot see the offending processes. I've tried checking different options under 'view' but cannot figure what is going on and my laptop is acting quite sluggishly.
Will I have to back up everything I want to keep onto an external HDD and format /home or is there a fix?
EDIT: Not essentially solved in my eyes, but problem gone away. I tried reinstalling a few times and finally used the fix that's going around for Skype audio, plus the package updating cycle fix before installing Upgrade Pack 7 and that has dropped CPU down.
