Constant, physical reboot

Postby Satryoden on Thu Dec 12, 2013 6:57 pm

Well, I don't precisely know how to label it
I've learned a few things about lmde from reading threads on here,
however everytime I have ran into this issue
I couldn't find a solution which lead to re-installing LMDE again to fix it.
I want to find a solution for this so my computer doesn't suffer from multiple re-installs

So the issue is
The computer runs fine when I first install it
Install the right broadcom wireless firmware
Install WINE
Photoshop CS5
Now Here is the issue
I try installing
MS-core fonts
after it gets installed the whole OS
crashes when I open Mozilla
or any other program
Within 2 seconds upon opening through 3 minutes

So lately I have been using gimp to handle texts.
Downloaded open shop video editor and installed it
the issue came back.

Does this with both MATE and Cinnamon

I am running this OS through a Dell Latitude D600
1.5 gb
30 gb HD
Checked the ram and usage
it's still low so It's not causing the issue.

Any idea's?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Well, if these "MS-core fonts" cause such behavior, maybe it's better to uninstall them for good?

It's not just the Microsoft Core fonts that are causing it
(I need the package for design work(I work on logos/album art ) for bands and I hate gimps layout.
However the issue also stays after I un-install the programs.
