Which repositories

Post by xkazeshinix »

I've installed LMDE few days ago and done update using this repos:

Code: Select all

xkazeshinix@lmde ~ $ inxi -r
Repos: Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com debian main upstream import
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest/ testing main contrib non-free
           deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest/security testing/updates main contrib non-free
           deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest/multimedia testing main non-free
           deb http://extra.linuxmint.com debian main
but it gave me really old packages kernel 3.11-2-486, Mate 1.6.1 and so on..
I've heard that LMDE repos are outdated, but is there any way to keep my system more up to date?

If you can wait LMDE 2 will be out real soon. Hopefully we will see a RC next week, and a stable version a few weeks after that. If you are the experimenting type of user you could change repo's now, but understand LMDE 2 is still in beta. I'll add the link for the repo's in case you are interested. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 96#p987596 PS: what your looking for is on the first page of the post.

Thanks for quick reply :) yes i like to experiment with my system and be always up to date. I know that LMDE2 will be out soon but i want to become more familiar with debian before it's out. :)

I've changed repos to:

Code: Select all

xkazeshinix@lmde ~ $ inxi -r
Repos: Active apt sources in file: /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com betsy main upstream import
           deb http://extra.linuxmint.com betsy main
deb http://ftp.pl.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free
           deb http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates non-free contrib main
           deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ jessie main non-free
Upgraded and managed with dependencies and IT WORKS!

Code: Select all

xkazeshinix@lmde ~ $ inxi -F
System: Host: lmde Kernel: 3.16.0-4-586 i686 (32 bit)
Desktop: MATE 1.8.1 Distro: LinuxMint 2 betsy
Thank you!
