issues lmde

Dear friends,

Just a couple of issues with the otherwise astonishingly good lmde:

1. cpu scaling worked otob, but one of the updates created a new linux-image, the one where the devs decided that we don't need speed on demand. They are wrong. Is there a way to go back to the original kernel shipped on the dvd which does not involved re-installing the OS? No big deal as I have a separate /home, but a nuisance. Yes, I have googled this extensively, and it is a kernel issue, but the auto update feature, is dangerous for noobs, since I failt to check that the kernel image was not included in a dist-upgrade, or however you want to describe what the gui does. A rolling distro like debian unstable is great, but only if you are really paying attention! Regression is not fun.
2. xdali clock has been removed form xscreensaver, I need it. Any ideas. Again, googling brought info, no solution.
3. there is no longer easy font installation without kontrol, I have a disk with hundreds of fonts(linguist) so double clicking on each of them would take at least forever. Need command to install all of them at once.

Peace,

Martin

http://snapshot.debian.org/

Code: Select all

The snapshot archive is a wayback machine that allows access to old packages based on dates and version numbers. It consists of all past and current packages the Debian archive provides.

daliclock appears to be a separate package, you should be able to just install xdaliclock via apt and get what you want, hth
http://www.jwz.org/xdaliclock/

if you have to modify things this may help as it mentions daliclock specifically
