Where does installed programs under wine hide from viewing

Post by CDS »

Dear forum members,
I am back to LMDE after emotional goodbye when I tried as soon as it came out. After reading the discussions, I can stay away anymore. I installed again. I am quite happy this time(now). Everything is updated without any single mess-up.it took me from early morning till late evening to update. So far so good. However, I have one issue.
1. I installed chrome browser after downloaded from internet. It is in my system but I can't see it(though I installed chromium as suggested from software manager). Where do it hide?
2. I installed my dictionary using wine. It was installed successful, but it keeps hiding from viewing. Where does it hide?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

Does chromium launch if you open the terminal and type "chromium-browser"? If it doesn't launch, they it is probably not installed. You can check by searching for it in the Synaptic Package Manager [click on "System>Administration>Synaptic Package Manager"]. If you have too many problems getting it to work, you can install Google Chrome by following the instructions here: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=141&t=55971

You dictionary software probably doesn't work under Wine. You should:
1) Check to see if the software is listed on: http://appdb.winehq.org/
2) If it is not listed as working, try to look for a linux equivalent of the dictionary software.
3) If you don't want to try (2) then try installing the latest version of wine and try installing the dictionary software again.
