Firefox won't save windows position

I installed LMDE today ... all in all not too painfully an experience. A couple of behaviors seem different than traditional Mint ... one item I've noticed is that Firefox always opens centered on the desktop and won't hold my preferred positioning of upper left ... Chrome on the other hand always opens with the upper left orientation so I assume this is a Firefox issue. Has anyone else noticed this? ... any thoughts on how to get Firefox to remember the last open window position would be most welcome ...

Well here's some Firefox voodoo .... I maximized the Firefox window, closed and reopened Firefox, un-maximized it and it restored to the desired size and position ... on all subsequent restarts of Firefox, the window is the desired size and position ... one of life's "go figures" I suppose <G>

oops, spoke too fast ... that "fix" didn't hold ... here's something else I've noticed ... If another window is open, say Terminal, then Firefox opens upper left justified as I want it to ... close or minimize the other open window and Firefox centers itself upon opening ... very strange and a behavior that doesn't exist in Ubuntu 10.x or Mint 10 ...
