How do i upgrade or downgrade to Debian 6? I wanna remove all the stuff linux mint did to this system. I want a pure debian, but want to keep the drivers etc, since debian does not support my wifi card, etc,

Debian 6 has not yet been released.

If you want Debian with a modern kernel and wireless support, then download crunchbang statler.

It's very light and fast, and wireless is as simple as it is on Mint Main.

I recommend the xfce version .

http://crunchbanglinux.org/downloads/statler/alpha-02/

The wireless part during the install may appear confusing, just ignore it and configure your
wireless from the GUI after the install has finished.

Although it claims to be an Alpha, it is extremely stable. After all, it is Debian.

You will not be doing an upgrade/downgrade, it will be a clean install.

THEN SAY SO!!!

I am not a mind reader.

Debian Testing is ALWAYS called Debian Testing.

When Debian 6 is released it will be called Debian Stable.

Man, you just don't get it do you?

Read the blurb on Debians site. Maybe you'll learn something.

Hi Richy

I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I thought maybe he was just confused and needed a little prod in the right direction.

Either intentionally or accidentally, he seems to be intent on making this as hard as possible.

I want to change what mint did back to Debian testing :?:

I would like to keep all my software without doing a clean install.

You can't. Download Debian and do a clean install after backing up your files, then reconfigure. Just like you can't downgrade regular Mint to Ubuntu or Ubuntu to Debian, you can't just decide to change to Debian and remove Mint's configurations.

Open Synaptic, click the source or origin filter in the left-hand column (I don't know the exact name since my system isn't in English), select the linuxmint repository (actually there are two of them: main and non-free), mark for complete removal whatever you want to purge and click Apply.
