Pea-sized icons in new mint menu?

after the new mint10 update of LMDE, all the icons in my menu are now the size of 2x2-pixels... any idea how to fix this?
saw the answer here a while ago but cant find it now.
right click on the menu button and adjust icon size in preferences, 22 for applications and 48 for fav's
