LMDE-201012-gnome-dvd-amd64, Install and boot time

Post by wayne128 »

To developers and all those who make this LMDE 64-bit release:
Thank you very much for the X'mas present for 2010.

Here is my data on installation to a intel i3 64-bit desktop:

1. After key in those information on location, partition, name, password etc,
the time taken to copy files for installation plus grub loader installation is approximately 7.5-8 minutes.

This got to be one of the fastest installation I experienced.

2. Reboot, time taken to reach login page : approximately 25 seconds,
after key in logic password and hit return, continue to time , at the point when LMDE is ready for Menu>> browser is approximately
35-37 seconds..

Now playing with it. The information for this computer is as below:

I'm downloading the x64 version of LMDE now ... I have a special partition just waiting for this.

Installed on another 64-bit, AMD computer.

1. Time for file copying and grub boot loader etc after keying location, name, password, approximately less than 7 minutes, wow.
Fast installation.

2. Boot time about 35-39 seconds

Running fast.

However this computer has poor graphic, letters are not sharp at 1440x900 native resolution, other distros has no problem on graphic..

VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT218 [GeForce 210] (rev a2)

Easiest install ever. I had previously reserved a partition for x64 and a separate /home partition on my LMDE disk. My custom desktop was already in place, and only had to reinstall non standard pgms to make it look just like the dual boot 32-bit version. Thanks to all for the nice Christmas gift. :D
