Authentication Errors

Hi,
I just upgraded to v10 Debian and I find I can't log in. Everytime I try I get an 'Authentication Error'. I know my login and password are correct. I even reinstalled and am getting the same results. I'm rather new to Linux but this seems to be a no-brainer. Am I missing something or is there some workaround I can attempt by booting with the DVD? Thanks in advance.
Bob

You can switch with Ctrl+Alt+F[1-6] to the terminal, login as root and change the password.

Code: Select all

# passwd user-name

Thanks but I can't log in as root either. I even reinstalled for the 3rd time and set the password same as the login and get the same error message. I know I am typing in the correct password but login fails.

Did you try LMDE 2011.01?
