Configuration Files for LMDE [Solved]

I have a question. Are the configuration files like the hidden files in the home folder are they the same in the 32 bit as well as the 64 bit version. I am running 32 bit now and need to replace a failing hard drive and was wondering if I could keep my home settings and just install the 64 bit root drive. May be a dum question but dont want to waste time either.

yes, most of the files, if not all, will work just the same whether it's 32bit or 64bit.
Dektop: AMD Quad-Core, 4GB RAM, ATI HD3650silent, 33TB harddrive
Laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad x201, Intel core2centrino P9600, 4GB RAM, 750gb
