I had the same (or at least similar) problem installing on Mint main edition. There is a fairly long list of dependencies that seem to be missing, which some of those also have missing dependencies! The way I solved it was to go to the Ubuntu Packages (
http://packages.ubuntu.com/) and search for them there. You seem to have to have the exact version that it wants. The only issue is that you are trying to install on Debian, rather than an Ubuntu-based distro but with any luck the same method will work!
Also, although I've not tried it, I stumbled across an open-source version of the downloader
http://code.google.com/p/pymazon/ which might be easier
