Background / theme changer not functioning (SOLVED)

Postby allypink on Thu Jan 27, 2011 7:18 am

Is anybody having the same problems as I am with the 'appearance' module. When I click on change background from the desktop menu or via the appearance button in the menu, I get nothing or the window spread lengthways across the screen in a narrow box. All the backgrounds are lined up horiziotal with no scroll bar either up or down. Most of the time it won't load at all. I am running Nvidia with compiz. Everything else is working well....... fonts still a little hazy even with the suggested fixes. Better but not a patch or M10.
Getting to like LMDE but there are a couple of issues that need attending to for mine. (Appearance module plus the font rendering not good enough yet). Very quick. Even running some stuff that's setup for M10; seems to work OK on LMDE. Nothing broken yet. :D

Have you tried turning Compiz off and then attempting your desktop changes? Compiz has been know to have issues.

or did you perchance try what was in the first post of the fix your font-rendering (or something along the lines) posting?

Because that caused the same problem for me but just a couple of postings down is a fix.
Also the font-fix in the beginning is still for the 201009 release and should be unnecessary now

Thanks Man. That was the problem. Ran the code and all is now well. Font rendering is still not quite up to standard though. Happy again. I will continue to play.
