How Do I change the GDM Background Wallpaper?

Postby chris_debian on Thu Feb 10, 2011 12:49 pm

Hi, all!

I'm really happy with my LMDE installation, but it is slightly annoying that the GDM background says 'Linux Mint 10' or similar. I looked at the options under 'Login Screen', but GDM doesn't seem to have anything that refers to the wallpaper. Has anyone figured this one out? I think the background changed when the second LMDE release happened on the 24 Dec 10.

EDIT: Just noticed the Grub background has the same LM10 branding, too.

Thanks for any help.

Chris.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Thanks, dawgdoc.

I thought it was just me being stupid, looks like it's a bigger problem all together. I wonder whether this is filed as a bug? I know it's early days for LDME, but I don't suspect the Mint devs will be very happy in the long run, having Mint 10 as a wallpaper/ background.

Cheers,

Chris.

There is an active thread of LMDE users working towards LMDE specific theming: viewtopic.php?f=141&t=64522

Debian testing had several gdm3 updates prior to Squeeze going final. I think the Mint devs may have had the overrides on page 2 of the thread linked to in my previous post to keep the backgrounds related to Mint. So far no backgrounds/wallpapers had been published by the team specifically for Mint. So probably when the latest Mint tools came out, they pulled in the latest LM 10 wallpapers.
