Nothing against Firefox; I just prefer Chromium as my main browser. I've tried "sudo apt-get purge firefox" in the terminal, but I notice when I run this, it installs Iceweasel instead. Likewise, removing Iceweasel re-installs Firefox. Is there no way to purge them both so I can just use Chromium exclusively?

There's a meta-package that is causing this. mint-meta-debian I think? Try removing that first. You could also try installing Chromium and then removing Firefox to see if that works. I've experimented a bit with this in the past. If you install both Iceweasel and Firefox and then remove both simultaneously, it will try and install something else again. It just has to have a browser in there.

I finally got rid of Firefox completely, and the funny thing it was more luck as i was not trying to do this.
I was playing with the new LMDX, unistalled (through synaptic) firefox and iceweasel got installed in its position.
Then, i installed opera (my favourite browser).
Afterwards, i read that post, back to synaptic, check iceweasel for completely remove and midori for installation (i was planning also to give it a try -two birds in a stone).
Mint meta debian was also been removed.

As i said, it was more luck than anything else. Some steps are most probably unnecessary, but as you can see there is an easy solution.
