I can't believe they don't just change that madness.

if i still remember correctly the arguments behind this rationale, they believe that this behaviour is greener (as in saving more energy) and nowadays the suspend issues are fixed in linux so there's no reason not to use it.

Excuse my ignorance zerozero, but I haven't been baptised into the 'green church' as yet, so can you tell me how suspending your computer is 'greener' than switching it off?

@Gene - You should think about marketing that idea, nobody could ever claim that isn't 'green computing' I don't know about the US but over here you would probably get a government grant for it too

Some of those Gnome developers are apparently Level 80 Trolls. A little change caused a long thread of comments, looking like "much ado about nothing".
