Thanks a lot Zwopper! It's too soon to say for sure, but these might end up being default in Helena.
I think both the Gnome and KDE wallpapers would make good defaults. I have used both wallpapers and they are my current favorites. Both wallpapers look good with the themes used in each edition and the artwork has a very original look and feel to it. There is the bling effect without being too busy or overdone. There is a great balance of color, style and uniqueness. Just my two cents on default wallpaper. :D

Since version 2 this is my desktop wallpaper. Great work! Together with Shiki Dust it all looks awesome. Shiki Mint is a drag while it makes texts unreadable in some majors like Thunderbird and Open Office.

If it's up to me: a +1 for it being the default for Helena.

I go for Fresh Air version 2 for Helena too...as long as it is part of a consistent artwork troughout the Mint 8 distribution. Simple, elegant and consistent I would say.

Shiki Dust would be a better theme (I agree with ESM). Good work Zwopper!!

Hi everyone !
Don't get me wrong but I would not like this to be my default linuxmint wallpaper for Helena. As I said in the first comments, this is great wallpaper and very artistic, but I think it is too dark for something that is "fresh". And If the default theme is still Shiki, I think it will be too dark :( If this is default wallpaper I would make it a bit lighter with lighter shadows in the corners and somehow make it lighter and more freshy. If the theme changes to something lighter, than it's very good choise.

Zwopper, I respect your artwork and this wallpaper is great !
All I want is that our linux mint desktop looks great ;)

Hi,

I have a strong feeling that these 2 wallpaper (By Zwo) will be the default ones for
The Linux Mint 8 Helena (Gnome--Xfce - green colour) (Kde - blue colour)

They are Wonderful! Best! Incomparable!

Ok, beeing redundant, i still miss the Linux Mint Slogan

Congrats Artist.

Best wishes
Roberto :)

They've got a fair chance indeed! ;)

Using v2, and envious of your skills in GIMP. Where'd you learn all this wonder?

I did try that, but found it to obtrusive.

Zwopper, can you produce a standard ratio version of this wallpaper for Gnome and KDE? The one you made is really nice but it's widescreen and the logo looks deformed on 4/3 screens.

Zwopper, don't mind what I said... I realize now, if we use zoom then the aspect should be fine no matter what the resolution is.

For some reasons Gnome doesn't care about the zoom option in /usr/share/gnome-properties... and uses fill-screen instead. I'll check how to fix that, but there's no need for extra artwork.

Thanks!
I'm glad you found the zoom function, xfce does this by default I believe, as long as the logo is centered it should look OK.

Dear Zwopper,

I recently changed from Helena to Isadora. Because of the new wallpapers are too bright (to have a good contrast to the icons), I still use your freshmint wallpaper. Probably I will do like this in next version beacuase of some additional reasons: freshmint theme does not distract from the icons too much and in the other direction some icons does not disturb the wallpaper itself.

So here a long term evaluation: After the first upgrade to next version your wallpaper ist still the best (for me)!

It's really heartwarming to hear that you like my wallpaper that much, it helps me to stay focused and creative.
I'll keep trying to come up with a worthy successor to it - rest assured!

Cheers!
