"dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config" not working

Hello,

I am running LMDE 64 bits MATE edition. When, in a terminal, I run

Code: Select all

dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config

, I am quickly sent back to the prompt and nothing happens while I was expecting a ncurses dialog asking me to enable sub-pixel rendering for the fonts.

I would like to try this method because my LMDE, weither it is running XFCE or MATE, hurts my eyes very quickly on my LCD screen (that didn't happen with the Ubuntu-based Mint version).
