Hibernate works but suspend does not

Post by DarkNova »

I am running LMDE UP7 and when I put the system to hibernate, it works fine and also resumes fine. The strange thing is that suspend to RAM doesn't work. The system will go to sleep but then when I wake it, there is no signal sent to the monitor and as far as I can tell, the computer is just in a limbo state. I have tried ctrl-alt-F1 and cannot bring up any text prompt. When I ping the computer's IP address there is no response. The only way to get out of that state is to power cycle the machine, and everything is lost. The last line in /var/log/pm-suspend.log is:

Code: Select all

Mon Dec 9 13:34:44 CST 2013: performing suspend
which should be the appropriate last line of a suspend, but since there is never any other message it would appear the problem is probably on the resume side. I'm not sure if the computer is even getting far enough to hand over things to Linux on resume. Has anyone seen this or have any ideas for debugging? Thanks.

Try a newer kernel, for example, version 3.11 from Testing.
