Hi,

I am using LMDE for about 3 months and had compiz installed.
While compiz was installed I had no desktop icons - which as far as I know is pretty standard.
After a while I kind of missed the desktop icons functionality, but i couldnt find a way to bring them back ?!
i tried disabling compiz - which didnt work out for me, so eventually I removed compiz - which didnt solve my problem either :-(.

any ideas?

* I am rather new to linux :-(

thanks in advance,
A

ASSAFM,

I remember having that problem when I first started playing with linux not so long ago. Give this link a try. It is written for Ubuntu, but looks like it should work for lmde as well. :)

I all most get used to the fact they are gone :-)
Thank you for bringing back my desktop icons.

Thanks for the suggestion. This works for lmde, too! Just be sure to include .mateconf, and .mateconfd, and then reboot. Voila! Pristine menu and desktop for you to configure, including any missing icons (ymmv).
