Re: more frequently updates!
That would be nice.
But Caja was a bugfix (mentioned in some thread in this forum) and Firefox comes every six weeks as always.

the packages in packages.linuxmint.com is fully rolling. when new version comes you'll immediately got it :3

Re: more frequently updates!
we are talking about repository in mint's native repo. you're asking about dvdiso. that's two different thing.
if you didn't got any problem with the RC iso you don't have to reinstall your system. you can run these command to check whether if there are any updated packages in mint's native repo...... i started with the 201402 RC. I can just roll from this ?? I don't need to load 201403 ?
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -s dist-upgrade

Re: more frequently updates!
sorry
i'm still a dummy here
do i need to install 201403 to receive updates to Linux, Mint, and packages
or am I "out of the loop" because I went up on 201402 (RC) ?
my goal was to join the "rolling update" concept
AFAIK I have only 1 glitch-- that being that when I connect my Canon 60D camera via USB my system does not react to that

Mike, please read what kurotsugi has written...
And this thread is not here for you to ask question about your problems. Please create a new one if you want help. If you have already reported this, please bump your old topic, but do not hijack others topics

Re: more frequently updates!
@mike: you're not out of the loop. simply run that command above to know the condition of your system. the differences between RC and final iso is the installer program and some mint special adjustment. with 'rolling release' distro you almost never need to reinstall your system.
there are several mint updates + security patch update from RC to latest UP. you can install all these updates to check whether if the problem have been fixed on final UP or not. the command isAFAIK I have only 1 glitch-- that being that when I connect my Canon 60D camera via USB my system does not react to that
Code: Select all
sudo aptitude dist-upgrade

I'll run that dist-upgrade and check my status
this way I should be on the same footing with folks who installed 201403
I really like the rolling release concept. you guys do a terriffic job with this software!!
I'm an old retired guy now so my total contribution is in loading the software and poking around on it.

I had got myself in a bad spot being on MINT15/Ubuntu base when they dropped that leaving until June for Mint17 LTS. so I'm happy to be out of the LTS program now.
