I am currently running LMDE along side Windows 8.1 as a dual boot. My comuter is new as of Feb this year and is an HP Envy 700-216 with an AMD A10 Quad-Core Accelerated Processor, 12 Gigs of RAM, and a 2 TiB HDD.
At times this OS seems to be running slowly. Short of a reinstall of LMDE,
Question: how can I check to make sure that LMDE is properly installed and running correctly?
About the only software I've added have been ClamAV, Adblock Plus (to Firefox 32), and JRivers Media Center for Linux (both 19.0.160 and 20.0.18.
I have also had to add reFInd to be able to set up the dual boot.
Thanks,
tlcmd aka Dick

Re: Checking LMDE
What DE is installed?
What does "seems to be running slowly" mean exactly? Is everything slower than you expect it to be? Is there a lag in response to keyboard or mouse? You should give a bit more information.
ClamAV is (or at least was) known to be slow and ressource-hungry.

Re: Checking LMDE
run 'dmesg -l err' to see everything wrong on your system. else, 'dmesg -l warn' for every warning message. if the first command tell you nothing it means everything is probably fine.
