Just for a datapoint, I downloaded this from the torrents today, burnt it to a DVD using Brasero from Mint 8 Universal edition, and installed it on my Dell d600. Perfect success! I then installed all of the updates (via ethernet cable).
Next, when I get the time, I have to do the necessary reading to learn how to make the Broadcom wireless card work, and I'm in business.
So for now, I have to say it's a rousing success! Thanks! ! ! !
Oh, also I thought I should mention that I did not need to use compatibility mode when booting the Live CD. I don't know if that is particularly useful information, but previously I've often had to use compatibility mode with various versions of Ubuntu based Mint (not with Mint 10 though).
well downloaded the new 2011-01 LMDE.. Sorry to say it will not load the live dvd on my desktop computer. it brings up the Ready and then just sits and blinks..
