on the other hand, if you installed LMDE and then changed your sources list from
testing to
stable or
squeeze your computer would be running an OS based on Debian stable with all of the Mint tools and modifications available. Also, you would still get updates of the Mint tools.
You would not get new versions of all applications as they become available to those using a testing or unstable based sources. If you enable the backports repository you will still get some of these in time.
There would be very minimal chance of breaking packages and dependencies due to updates. Much less a chance than there is if you leave your OS based on
testing. Not that there have been any terribly big issues with leaving things set at testing for me.
It's a choice you make.
