Folder names on remote server appear with %20 as spaces

Postby mig_akira on Thu Nov 04, 2010 10:21 pm

Hello everyone.

I'm using LMDE and I have a mint 8 server. When I used mint 8 client, I could easily access any folder and file on my server. Now I can still access folders, but when I try to open a file that has spaces in it's name, for example "the beatles.mp3", VLC says it cant play it because it cant resolve the name "smb://10.1.1.2/music/the%20beatles.mp3". Instead of "the beatles", it shows "the%20beatles".

Every folder and file that has spaces in its names are showing like that in VLC and other softwares as well.

What could this be?

Thanks!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

%20 is an escape sequence for the space
http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode ... /index.htm

You can see that also in the URL's that contain space in your web browser.

Regarding samba, look here: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-27823.html
