Question: Would LMDE have same features as RC 10?

Postby gaboceropter on Fri Nov 05, 2010 12:15 am

I read in the latest update the following:

"Coming up, we’re getting close to a stable release of Linux Mint 10 early November, a second LMDE release with the same features and an improved installer in December. Work also started on the other editions and we’ll have more news about them in the coming days."

QUESTIONS -> :roll:
1-Does this mean that whomever installed LMDE does not need to be jealous about the new features being added into the Mint 10 version?
2-Given that LMDE is a rolling distribution they will be added automatically (when updating) as soon as they get available?

In fact, LMDE moves forward and Julia follows :D :D

The new features are already available in Mint Debian -but you have to enable Romeo (Administration>Software Sources)

See that link http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1534 -we are far ahead : :)

This sounds fantastic!!! I went to the post you mentioned but couldn't install ROMEO.

1) I followed this instructions but get the following message "git-clone: command not found"

You can also use git to overwrite your version of mintMenu with this one: In a terminal, type: “apt install git-core; cd; git-clone git://github.com/linuxmint/mintmenu.git; cd mintmenu; ./test”

2) Also did a search in Software Manager and Synaptic Manager for ROMEO and returned NO results.

please advise,

Follow this route:

Alt + F1 > System > Administration > Software Sources.

Then, from the tab "Linux Mint Software", enable "Unstable Packages (Romeo)" (just click in the box)

When you finish with this, run the Update Manager (from the panel, Notification Area or through System > Administration > Update Manager and that's it!

Just did! It works perfectly! Thank you for your help.

Now, by any chance, do you know or anyone else, how to configure the Function Keys on the Acer Aspire One D250 model?

That is the only thing I miss from the original windows xp that it came with...

cheers,

Sounds too specific for me. In general, you can configure your shortcuts by
Alt + F1 > System > Preferences > Keyobard Shortcuts
