SOLVED _ Revert back to original Mint log in screen

Postby marco07 on Tue Nov 23, 2010 6:08 pm

Hi:
After a recent upgrade of the Debian mint on my desk top, the log in splash screen is now a blue color screen with the word Debian on it. I personally prefer the original one. Is there a way to get the original one back?
Thanks in Advance.

Open the file /etc/gdm3/greeter.gconf-defaults and change this line:
/desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename /usr/share/images/desktop-base/moreblue-orbit-gdm.svg
to:
/desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename /usr/share/backgrounds/linuxmint/Talento-1.jpg

Thanks for your replay!
I did follow your advice and rebooted the system. It did not work! I still get the Debian Log in screen.
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

do you have the file /usr/share/backgrounds/linuxmint/Talento-1.jpg?

also try that 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm3' after changing that file

I got it finally resolved by taking the following steps:
1- I changed
/desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename /usr/share/images/desktop-base/moreblue-orbit-gdm.svg
to:
/desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename /usr/share/images/desktop-base/Talento-1.jpg

2 - I put a copy of the "Talento-1.jpg" file into the "/usr/share/images/desktop-base" folder.
Then rebooted and Bingo!
