I startede work today on a CE of a Debian based LinuxMint build on top of the ISO Clem made and i am working on it and i made it install on my test PC... Welcome to the project!!

How would be the package updates on this?

The packages will be tested by you and some others before we get them on this distro, or we just update from Debian Testing repos?

I can sort something out with mintUpdate (basically pulling from Debian Testing but only from configurations (as in moments) which you define as stable.. that way you'd be "jumping" from one stable frozen set of updates to another.. guaranteeing that your system is always stable and avoiding updates when Debian Testing itself is broken). Of course this can come as an update to mintupdate, we don't need to focus on this right now.

Awesome, but would it not be better to base it right off Debian Etch/Lenny, instead of the Alpha?

It's based on Debian Lenny (Testing).
Alpha is the state of the 1st version of Mint Debian.
