Panel Status Icons are all the same?

Hi All,

Gnome 2, if the panel got messed up, you could just remove .gconf/apps/panel and the default would restore. Is there any way to do this in gnome 3?

All of my status icons (pidgin, vmware, etc) show up as the package update icon. I've attached a screenshot. The screenshot shows to package update notifications, the tricky part is that one of these is actually for Pidgin.
