I am new to Mint and installed Linux mint 13 - Maya on my desktop few days ago. So far I like it very much. Before I used to use OpenSUSE for over a year but always having problems and last 6 or 7 months I used to login failsafe on OpenSUSE.
But about my "small" problems. There is few problems though that I have with Maya.
1. One thing is the desktop seems to "refresh" automatically and all open folders just disappears (closes). And if I am working in folders and copying/pasting files, then "the copy memory" will be empty so I have to open both of the folders to copy the files again. I don't know if this is related to that I am using some-kind of script to change the background picture on my desktop (I use the same kind of script as I did use with OpenSUSE, it comes default in OpenSUSE and I just change the script to pictures on my Mint folders). I did try to change the background to display only one picture (not using the script) but it still keep refresh the desktop, and closing all my open folders (open programs are not affected, only folders).
2. Often when I play videos the player often stop playing until I move the mouse. This is not always and sometime there seems no problem.
3. Sometimes the system take too long to start and because the screen is blank I don't know what is happening. Sometimes it help to press enter and then I will see the HD-leed flashing (meaning something is happening) and the system will boot but sometimes that not work until I give up and press on the restart-button. I have enabled the splash screen on boot but this happen before the splash-screen start and everything is still black.
But in whole I like Linux-mint and the best is to have everything up and running from the box (beginners don't need to try to understand Linux and install bunch of things just to be able to play music that all other people are able to play). Mint have my favorite media-player (VLC) installed and Opera-browser is very easy to install (my favorite too).
