a MATE wallpaper changer...

a MATE wallpaper changer...

Postby poetfreak on Thu Jul 19, 2012 1:32 pm

I can not find a wallpaper changer for Mint 13 MATE 64Bit that works.

I tried:
wallch
wallpapoz
cortina
wally

None of them do anything.

I am assuming the MATE Desktop stores the wallpaper in a non standard location, but
it is driving me insane. If I knew where it was stored I may try to build one myself.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Take a look here. http://www.webilder.org Good Luck
If you don't like it, make something better
If you can't make something better, adapt
If you can't do either ball your panties up and cry

Making a fool of yourself is like masticating.
Most anyone can do it but performing it in public is real hardcore.

Hello poetfreak, I have to inform you that, while there isn't any stable release of Wallch 4.0 at the moment, I have set up a PPA with the testing 3+ versions of Wallch.

In these testing series, we have included a dialog called 'Set Custom Command' which lets you change the command used so as to change the wallpaper. Specifically, it lets you choose your Desktop Environment.

In order to download and install (as well as to receive updates) from these testing series, please run the following commands:
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wallch/3+
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install wallch

So, after installing, head to Edit->Set Custom Command, choose 'Mate' from the list (or any desktop environment that you work into) and then click on the Apply button.

Please let me know if this new feature that lets Wallch work in the Mate (or other) desktop works fine for you!

Thanks!

Thanks a lot. I've followed your instructions and Wallch 3.5 is working great on linux mint 13 MATE 64 bits, with the custom command option, choosing mate.

I've activated compiz for composite instead of the default one, and the notification on background change doesn't work correctly. Working windows dissapear and left garbage instead, I have to move to other virtual desktop and return to force window refresh.
Disabling notification avoids the problem. Apart from this, it's working perfectly!
