<Solved> keyboard input lag/errors using MATE

Hi there,

I've noticed during the last few days that when using MATE (with Maya) on my system (HP laptop - dual core pentium), I get keyboard input errors (missed keystrokes) typing at normal speed. Slowing down typing speed resolves the issue, but that is extremely impractical. Switching to Cinnamon on the same laptop shows no input lag whatsoever.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Anyone with similar issues? Or am I doing something way off the beaten track having both MATE and Cinnamon installed?
