Several issues on a scratch Nadia MATE install

Hi there,

Installed Nadia 32-bit MATE (yesterday) and I'm running into the following issues:

1. When changing my background image it displays as wanted, but after logout and login again, background image is reset/not visible.
2. Adding script to start-up applications, it's just ignored. New application is not added. Starting the script in a terminal works just fine.

Any hints as where to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.


P.S. I did restore all my files from the previous Mint 12 /home directory. Perhaps there's something there preventing these changes?
