Hello Mate lovers,
I am linux newbie and ran into some BSOD snap.
os: linux mint 13 maya (32-bit)
box: HP EX490 homeserver (headless)
vnc: ultravnc viewer on desktop
I ended up with a BOSD after installing gdevilspie to place some settings
to make some apps open automatically on specific workspaces.
The BOSD appeared after I restarted.
It's looks like a BOSD, however the mouse is working and some basic
icons appear on the 'desktop', as well as an error window (see image attachment)
Using SSH I uninstalled gdevilspie, however this yielded no improvement.
I didn't purge the installation as I thought the config files might give
a hint to the problem/solution. (I don't know how to locate these files
however).
Trying to stop and restart MDM through SSH didn't help.
Please help!
P.S. I use a .sh script at startup using startup applications feature to
get maya to work on the right screen resolution for my desktop (1050x1680).
I don't believe it's relevant, as I maya started just fine numerous times
with it the script installed.

Re: BSOD at startup, resolution errors
Apparently this error many have encountered before?
After placing the harddisk in my desktop and starting Mate in recovery mode, I got the following error messages at login:
x-session-manager [31424]: WARNING: session 'ubuntu' runnable check failed: Exited with code 1
x-session-manager [31424]: WARNING: Unable to find default provider 'unity-2d-panel' of required provider 'panel'
x-session-manager [31424]: WARNING: Unable to find default provider 'unity-2d-panel' of required provider 'shell'
Hints towards a solution anyone?
