Compaq CQ62-215DX Brightness Shortcuts Not Working

Hi everyone just made the switch to linux this week and like it so far however I just can't seem to get the brightness keys to work. I have tried changing grub as suggested by other topics but still cant get it to work any help is greatly appreciated.

Heres what in grub right now

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=Linux"

tried first without acpi_backlight=vendor still didn't work

Also updated grub after changes
