xrdp and remote desktop access to MATE 13 or 14

I had this configured at one point on MATE in v13 - and lost the VM on which it was running and I forgot how i got it running the first time, of course...
I can install either LinuxMint 13 or 14, with the MATE desktop.
I need to be able to connect using the native Windows (Win 7 mostly) RDP client.

I used somethiung with xrdp on top of it last time - it was very slow, but it worked.

Anyone got this working? Any hints? I get a lot of hits in google but nothignt hat actually works.
