Missing Font: ttf-symbol-replacement?

Postby JSeymour on Wed Apr 10, 2013 4:59 pm

Hi There,

I have an app I run under Wine that has a set of lines as borders around its windows. It was perfect under Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Gnome 2. Under Linux Mint 13 LTS with Mate 1.4, it works, but the borders have turned into ugly hieroglyphics.

I did a "dpkg -l |grep font" kind of a thing on both systems, and here is a list of the packages my old system has that my new one does not:

< console-terminus
< libfontconfig1-dev
< libfreetype6-dev
< libxft-dev
< ttf-droid
< ttf-kacst-one
< ttf-khmeros-core
< ttf-lao
< ttf-symbol-replacement
< ttf-takao-pgothic
< ttf-thai-tlwg
< x-ttcidfont-conf

I suspect the problem is with ttf-symbol-replacement, which, near as I can tell, is normally hauled-in as part of the Wine install. But I have it not, on the new system, and can't figure out how to get it.

Any clues?

If I strace what Wine is running, will I be able to see in that what fonts are being requested and not found?
