OP: Glad that worked for you. I now have the same problem, but the two solutions given don't make any difference.
My setup: New motherboard last week together with second user 1TB HD, and 2 SSDs. System is loaded on an 8GB SSD, /home is on a 16GB SSD with all the big files like /home/pictures on the 1TB HD with symlinks.
The system installed is (was) Linux Mint Olivia with the MATE desktop. Login is set to log me in automatically, without having to give the passwrod.
This morning, it booted into straight Ubuntu 13.04 with the Unity desktop, and it all seems to work. But it's horrible.
If I log out, the login screen comes up with Mint Olivia the only option, and it goes straight back into Ubuntu 13.04 Unity.
- Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install mint-meta-mate
in a terminal tells me that everything is present and correct.
Can anyone suggest anything else, other than a complete re-install?
BTW. I have great difficulty searching for this problem on the forum, becasue the search facility will only actively search for words with five or more letter, and the description I use is full of four letter words! Not those I'm tempted to use, but things like MATE, MINT, . . . .
