How to reset Gnome while preserving Cinnamon?

Post by Stewbond »

I run multiple DEs (Cinnamon 1.6 & Gnome classic) but I messed up gnome-panel really badly. I'd like to reset as much of gnome as possible without touching Cinnamon.

I can reset gnome with this, but I'm terrified that it'll also reset my Cinnamon.

Code: Select all

rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity .cache .dbus .dmrc .mission-control .thumbnails ~/.config/dconf/user ~.compiz*
Any ideas how I can reset just the gnome-panel?

Edit: An alternative solution could be to simply fix the problem with the gnome panel. Check out this screenshot to see it:
