i'm running mint 15 mate.
i prefer to view pdf's in the document viewer rather than in firefox.
when firefox passes a downloaded pdf to the viewer, it opens in a partial screen.
the window manager doesn't offer any way to force it to be maximized.
this behavior is also present with the 'eye of mate' image viewer. regardless of how i last left it, it will not open maximized.
elsewhere on the web, i found instructions saying to hit alt-f3 or to right-click on the title bar for window settings (debian?). these options aren't present in mint.
any help would be most appreciated, thanks.

Re: forcing new/child windows to open maximized
I do know about the pdf but with eye of Mate in preferences>plugins> you can select the "Full screen with double click" plugin, that should fix your EOM problem.
Re: forcing new/child windows to open maximized
thanks for that, it was really beginning to annoy me. kinda like how when you hit pagedown in compact view it only goes down 1/2 a page.
mint is great, but some of the defaults are just weird.
