Why do new windows open top left of the screen?

The only change I made after installing was switching to the Compiz window manager and enabling a couple effects (wobbly windows and animations), although it was already doing this before I enabled those.
It wouldn't bother me except I like to have the taskbar at the top of the screen and I can't grab the window to move it around because the top is underneath it. Is there a way to get the windows to open in the center or lower? It's not every window but usually a second instance of one will open in the corner and the CP opens there, too.

Try enabling Place Windows plugin (and playing with its settings).

Ah, there is a Center option. This seems to have rectified it. Dankeschoen!
