[solved] Cinnamon flickers and doesn't load

Hi,
I have a new hp folio 13 running an I3, 1.4ghz dual core, 4gb ram. OS is mint 13 so cinnamon 1.4. Although I specify cinnamon in the session, all I ever get is gnome classic. If I do a "cinnamon --replace" I get the panel and menuing but not the chosen theme. What can I do to get this working?

Correction. Cinnamon does work with the replace, my mistake about the themes. However it does flicker a lot.

shot myself in the foot.... Had DRI disabled in xorg.conf. Had to add a driver etc section to get it to load the intel driver instead of vesa which doesn't work. The snippet I copied also switched DRI off.
