Following another thread I was able to manually do this in Mate but for the life of me, I can't find MDM Setup in Cinnamon on my laptop. Where is it hiding. I ran gksu MDM Setup and I didn't understand it and it was nothing like the neat gui I have with Mate.

Regards
Platypus

Edit: It's all okay. I found it in /usr/sbin but not as MDM Setup as I had been searching for. gksu mdmsetup does the job. In Mate it is a menu entry under Other.

There must be something wrong in your Cinnamon, because MDM setup is just there in the menu:

Script didn't work here on current mate

Code: Select all
File "./convert.py", line 12
    if gtk.pygtk_version < (2,3,90):
    ^
IndentationError: unexpected indent

Works flawlessly with the script for Nautilus, thank you. :)

You can convert it to MDM using the script I recently posted.
Cheers!

I downloaded this theme too and followed your directions to convert the theme with your script.
But now ... I'm stuck.

What to do next after converting? How do I install this MDM theme?
Sorry if this is a stupid question ... :-)

EDIT: what I can't figure out is: where is the new theme -after converting- located?

If everything went ok, it will be at the same folder the original theme pack was located, but with a "_for_MDM" added to the name.

Sorry but it doesn't work. The file is not converted. No idea why.
But I did it manually now as you described earlier in another post and that works great, I now have that MDM theme too.

There's only one thing however: it doesn't display my photo as it is set in "login window" , it sets the picture of Mister Penguin , our "Tux" mascot :-)
I tried a few other pics but it stays on the same picture ....
Any idea?
Anyway thanks for all your effort.

I'm sorry the script didn't work for you. It's strange, because it did for some other users.
Hmmm... What happens when you execute the script in a terminal instead of Nautilus?

About the photo I'm clueless, for me it worked from the beginning.

About the script:
Nothing happens, I can hear the hard drive work for a few seconds, but the terminal doesn't give any warnings or error-messages. There is no other file created.

About the photo: no problem, it's not important anyway. I'm the only one who works on this computer and I can see my face every morning in the mirror, in fact that's more than enough :D

Script is working fine here, thanks for the help but the only problem is that custom user pictures don't show up on the login screen =/

Hi, is there a common place for MDM compatable themes? Like those for applets and extensions?
