can't change volume sometimes

Postby sites on Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:29 am

Works fine after booting up, for a while. For some reason the volume control stops working. If I fire up alsamixer in terminal I can change the volume, but that's inconvenient. Is this a pulse problem, cinnamon problem, 64-bit issue or what? Also, on another note, when viewing properties of an image there's no tab for "notes". Why is this missing (along with several other 'features' now vanished from various gui)?

I had almost the same on a Cinnamon/Mate 64bit install.
My sound went completely mute on occasion.

My solution: installing all pulseaudio packages,
removing Banshee (mono-runtime) and then
finally removing all Mate packages and its config
files.

Since than all is dandy.

OK I tried that stuff, but now I don't even have volume control after rebooting. Maybe there are some extra pulse packages to install that I missed. Got a list or a link?
