Disable notification area, is it possible?

Disable notification area, is it possible?

I'm trying to activate the notification area applet in AWN (Avant Window Navigator, a dock), but always show me a message: There is another notification area, please disable it and restart the applet.
I already removed the notification area from Cinnamon Panel, so I don't know why is still showing the error message :?
Any ideas?

Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon 32bits, latest version of AWN.

I have the same issue. I am also using Cinnamon 1.4-UP3 and AWN 0.4.1.
Hardware: Lenovo ThinkPad X61 Tablet
Software: Linux Mint 13 "Maya" - Cinnamon (64-bit)

Thought I had found a sollution but error message still there. I give up :)
