Summary of testing Mint 13 and LMDE 64 bit, different desktops and file systems:
Xfce, Mate, KDE are working well, but activities with Cinnamon: terrible slow (ext4 and xfs, Maya and LMDE):
It takes more than half a minute to open Firefox, Opera, Thunderbird, Terminal, Gedit (Pluma),...
Opening home folder or folders on an external hd - normal, but displaying a *.png or *.pdf: ~40 sec.
How is that possible?
I never had a similar problem with Dell Precision M 4400 (in more than a dozen distris).

ALL: logical partitions.
BTW: btrfs: not possible on Maya.
