Blank screen with cursor after login - help

Hello,

After I log in I get a blank screen with a cursor. I am running Linux Mint 13 (64 bit) - Cinnamon although I have tried installing and running all other desktop environments such as MATE, GNOME, KDE and I get the same blank screen with all of them. I have tried reinstalling Cinnamon and have researched and browsed many forums but nothing seems to be working for me! Everything was working fine until a few days ago.

Is there anything I can do? Please help! I would prefer to stay with Linux Mint, but will have to switch to another distro if this problem isn't resolved.
