Window manager process.

When I run my xfce desktop I get a process for xfwm4 its window manager.
When I run Ubuntu I get a process for compiz its window manager.
But when I run Cinnamon I do not get a process for Muffin (or mutter or anything like it). I get the cinnamon process but that is all.
Does it not have a separate process for the window manager part of the desktop?

There is nothing wrong with the functioning of the desktop btw, I just wondered why it is not there.
