Theme not applying to notification popups (Mint 14)

For some reason my themes will not change the colors of the notification popups. The notifications always appear this ugly dark brown/green color, even though the themes instruct the popups to be colored black. I started having this problem after I tried out a new video driver and then reverted back to the previous one.
