[SOLVED]Can not edit menu
When right clicking the menu icon in the panel the context menu appears. When I select edit menu nothing happens.

When I removed Mate it took alacarte with it. After installing alacarte. I can now edit the menu again.

I had the same problem where I was unable to edit the menus on my desktop. The alacarte package is the standard package for editing menus for a Gnome 2 desktop. This does work in Linux Mint but the official(?) package for Mint is called 'mozo'.
